Email Client Configuration

To setup your PDAs or email-enabled cellphones, use these minimum account settings:
Username: username@plm.edu.ph (Ex.: jpdelacruz@plm.edu.ph or \jpdelacruz@plm.edu.ph)
Server: pod51003.outlook.com
Check "Use secure connection (SSL)"

If asking for other info, use:
Incoming Port: 995
Security type: SSL (Accept all certificates)
Delete email from server: Never
Outgoing Port: 587
Security type: TLS

Other config details, usually for desktop clients:
POP setting
   Server name: pod51003.outlook.com
   Port: 995
   Encryption method: SSL
IMAP setting
   Server name: pod51003.outlook.com
   Port: 993
   Encryption method: SSL
SMTP setting
   Server name: pod51003.outlook.com
   Port: 587
   Encryption method: TLS


There are a variety of ways to configure your email client like MS Outlook:

1. Easiest way to create a new account in MS Outlook 2007
Click Tools in the menu bar, then choose Options.
Click Mail Setup tab, then click E-mail Accounts...
Choose "Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP"
Click "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" and click Next.
Click "Internet E-mail"
Fill-in your Name and E-mail Address
Supply this info to Server Information:
    Account Type: POP3
    Incoming mail server: pod51003.outlook.com
    Outgoing mail server: pod51003.outlook.com
Fill in your Log-on Information, i.e., User Name (yourname@plm.edu.ph) and Password
You may click "Remember password"
Click "More Settings..."
Click "Advance" tab and supply the port numbers:
    Incoming server (POP3): 995 [Click "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)]
    Outgoing server (SMTP): 587 [Use the following type of encrypted connection: TLS]
    Check "Leave a copy of messages on the server" and click OK
Click "Test Account Settings" but make sure you are connected to the Internet
At this point, you should be done.

Note: You will not be able to access the global address book (GAB) of plm.edu.ph thru this setting. The GAB enables you to see the email ads of all those who are registered to the official PLM domain whenever you send or forward an email. If you want to access the GAB through your email client, use settings no. 3 below instead.

3. If you want the Global Address Book to be imported also into your Outlook:
Go to Control Panel (Start > Control Panel)
Look for the Mail icon, then double click
Create an email profile by clicking E-mail Accounts, then New
An "Add New E-mail Account" wizard will appear, click Next.
Check the “Manually configure server settings…” checkbox, then click Next.
Select Microsoft Exchange, then click Next
Under the Microsoft Exchange Server, copy this: SINPRD0103CA001.apcprd01.prod.exchangelabs.com
For the username, enter your e-mail address (e.g. yourname@plm.edu.ph)
Click the More Settings... button
       a. If there is an error (e.g. This action cannot be completed...), ignore and click OK
       b. Look for and click the Connection tab
           i. Check "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP"
           ii. Click Exchange Proxy Settings
           iii. In the Microsoft Exchange Proxy Settings window, set the values as the following:
               1. Proxy Server for Exchange: pod51003.outlook.com
               2. Check "Connect Using SSL Only" and "Only Connect to proxy servers.."
               3. Enter msstd:outlook.com in the text box
               4. In the Proxy Authentication Settings drop down select "Basic Authentication" instead of
                  "NTLM Authentication"
       c. Click OK until you go back to the "Add New E-mail Account" window, click "Check Name."
Make sure you are connected to the Internet as Outlook will verify your PLM account
On the "Connect to..." window, enter your e-mail address and password
If you see the values in the Microsoft Exchange Server and Username textboxes underlined, click Next
At this point, you should be finished.
