The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila College of Music, in partnership with the Presidential Committee on Arts, Culture, and Sports (PCACS) and the NCCA, presents “Mayo Bisperas ng Liwanag” on November 22, 2023 (5:00PM) and November 23, 2023 at the PLM Justo Albert Auditorium.
This three-act opera pays homage to the enduring friendship of National Artist for Music, Maestra Fides Cuyugan Asensio (Libretto), and the late Dean Rey T. Paguio (Music).
The cast includes Prof. Maribel Miguel-Ararao as Anastacia, Angeli Benipayo as Agueda, Rovic Emmanuel S. Solomo as Badong, Pinoy Dream Academy 2nd Season Grand Champion and “Ethereal Diva” Laarni Lozada as Candida.
Julianne Indanan B. Alvaran plays Concha, Prof. Vhon Ryan Yu as Bitoy, Julia Mendoza as Angela, Immanuel Floyd Lim as Menggoy, Musa Araf Jihad Yahya as Boyong, and Rainier Seminiano as Goyong.
The play is directed by Nazer Degayo Salcedo, while Prof. Harold Galang serves as its music director.
As part of the PLM College of Music and the Presidential Committee on Arts and Culture (PCACS) mission to nurture the Filipino soul and safeguard our cultural heritage through music, this opera is open to the public.
