The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila established on March 10, 2020 the PLM COVID-19 Task Force to lead the university initiatives in helping control the spread of the corona virus.

The task force is led by its University President, Emmanuel A. Leyco, former OIC-Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and has served as Vice Chair for Disaster Response of the country’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

In addition to the suspension of classes, PLM also implemented a reduced administrative staff complement who were assigned on a rotational basis to secure its facilities and sustained delivery of basic services on campus.

To ensure minimal disruption in its academic operations, PLM deployed its blended learning modality with online work assignments and submissions that are closely monitored by the school deans and department chairs.

The PLM Covid-19 Task Force will implement the Department of Health (DOH)-recommended triage and immediately refer persons who demonstrate symptoms of the infection to San Lazaro Hospital, Ospital ng Maynila or Manila Doctors Hospital.

On a limited basis, disinfection will be implemented by the internal staff but external disinfection service providers will be mobilized should a corona contamination on campus is determined.

Other key officials of the task force are the University Sanitation engineer, University Health Services chief, Academic Affairs vice president and college deans of Medicine, Nursing and School of Public Health. #
