Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila mourns the passing of Senator Teresa "Tessie" Aquino-Oreta, former member of the PLM Board of Regents (2014 to 2019).
She is known for her contributions as a legislator. She was elected as representative of the Malabon-Navotas district from 1987 to 1998, and senator from 1998 to 2004, during which she served as chairperson of Committee on Education, Arts, and Culture. Among the bills that she authored and co-authored that were signed into law are the Philippine Science High School System Act and Early Childhood Care and Development Act.
