The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila congratulates its beloved professor, Court of Appeals Associate Justice Jhosep Y. Lopez, for his appointment to the Supreme Court.
Malacañang confirmed on Tuesday that President Rodrigo Duterte chose Justice Lopez as the newest member of the country’s highest judicial body.
Justice Lopez has a long history of serving the City of Manila. He is a former councilor and chief city prosecutor before he was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 2012. He is also a faculty member at the PLM College of Law, helping shape the minds of future Filipino lawyers.
“We proudly congratulate Associate Justice Jhosep Lopez for his appointment to the Supreme Court,” PLM President Emmanuel Leyco said. “May he continue to uphold PLM’s values of karunungan, kaunlaran, at kadakilaan as he takes his seat at the en banc and delivers just decisions.”
PLM College of Law Dean George Erwin Garcia also said: “This is an affirmation that our students are mentored by professors who exude the highest excellence in the legal profession, fueled by dedication to serve the republic and the people.”
PLM has consistently been named as among the best law schools in the country, beating the national passing rate in the yearly Bar examinations.
