August 22 - Sandra Mei Branzuela, who recently graduated from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila with B.S. Chemistry degree in April this year, bagged the top prize in the college category of Sibol Award for Student Creative Research at the finals of the National Invention Contest and Exhibit (NICE). The national finals were held from August 14 to 16, 2018 at the Le Pavillon Metropolitan Park in Pasay City. The contest is an annual event sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology.

National Artist for Literature Francisco Sionil Jose was guest lecturer at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila on July 30, 2018. Hundreds of students packed the Justo Albert Auditorium to hear him talk on the "Why Literature?".

The Jose Rizal Exemplary Leadership Award: Gawad Roberto Lapid

The 2018 Rizal Award for Exemplary Leadership or the "Gawad Roberto Lapid" goes to LUIS S. CRUDA, of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (BS in Social Work).

The Atty. Erlinda Espiritu Gawad ng Karunungan

Erlinda Arce Ignacio Espiritu -- a woman of substance. A trailblazer.

In 1951, she became the first woman to be admitted to Harvard Law School. At that time, it was unusual for women to attend law school, and even more unlikely for them to actually practice law.

The PLM Top Executive Award: Gawad ng Kaunlaran

Another award representing the second word in the PLM motto, Kaunlaran, is being conferred on SANDRA MEI BRANZUELA of the College of Science (Chemistry) by the University's Executive Vice President and six Vice Presidents, otherwise known as the PLM Top Executive Award.
